How to Grow High-Yield Carrots? ENTEC® Compound Fertilizer Has the Answer

Carrots are one of the most common vegetables in our daily lives. Rich in vitamin A, dietary fiber, and various trace elements, they are known as “little ginseng underground.” When managed properly, carrot cultivation not only results in high yields but also offers excellent economic returns, making it a preferred crop for many farmers. However, improper fertilization during cultivation can lead to issues like root cracking, hollowness, deformities, and poor quality.

In Zhangpu, Fujian, carrot farming is a main source of income for many growers. However, with the increase in years of cultivation, problems such as declining soil fertility and frequent pest and disease outbreaks have become more prominent. Traditional fertilizers used by farmers often result in poor efficiency, leading to slow growth, uneven sizes, and low nutrient use efficiency, ultimately causing cost waste.

To address this, an ENTEC® compound fertilizer trial was conducted in this area and achieved excellent results.

Nutrient Input Comparison (NPK) Between Treatments

Notes:

  1. Basal fertilizers were applied by incorporation into the soil; subsequent applications were broadcasted.
  2. Dosage unit is kg per mu (1 mu ≈ 666.7 m²).

ENTEC® Carrot Trial Performance Highlights

Seedling Stage

  • Carrot seedlings in the ENTEC® demo plot emerged uniformly and were strong and healthy

Leaf Growth Stage

  • Leaves grew rapidly with thick foliage, sturdy plants, and vibrant green color.

Root Enlargement Stage

  • Above-ground growth was lush and even, supporting robust development of the underground storage root.

Harvest Stage

  • The leaves aged naturally without early wilting. Carrot roots were uniform in size, high in quality, and had high yields.

Conclusion

1. Carrots in the ENTEC® demo plot had uniform shape, were straight, conical, and free of major bending, deformities, or cracks.

2. Compared with the control group:

    • o Length increased by 67 cm
    • o Maximum diameter increased by 04 cm
    • o Single root weight increased by 39 g
    • o Marketable root rate increased by 9%

Note: Measurement units in image are in jin (1 jin = 500g).

3. ENTEC® demo plot had:

    • o Slightly higher fertilizer cost: +56 RMB/mu
    • o Increased yield: +634 kg/mu
    • o Higher net income: +507 RMB/mu

Notes:

  • Revenue calculated based on field purchase price of 0.8 RMB/kg
  • Planting density: 25,000 plants/mu
