Application Effect of Nitrophoska® Compound Fertilizer on Garlic Cultivation

Garlic — a staple seasoning in every kitchen — is also one of China’s most important economic crops. Statistics show that China produces nearly 80% of the world's garlic, and has been the top global exporter for many consecutive years. Known as “White Gold,” garlic is not only a culinary favorite but also a key source of income for many farmers.

In the garlic-growing region of Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, we conducted a demonstration trial of Nitrophoska® compound fertilizer to evaluate its effectiveness.

Demonstration Field Overview

  • Location: Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province
  • Planting Area: Around 600,000 mu (approx. 40,000 hectares) in Pizhou, Tongshan, and Jiawang districts
  • Yield Performance: 1,250–1,500 kg of dried garlic bulbs per mu
  • 2023 Market Price: 8–10 RMB/kg
  • Growing Cycle: Sown in September–October, harvested in May of the following year

Nitrophoska® Fertilization vs. Traditional Farmer Practices

The trial compared the Nitrophoska® fertilizer program with traditional fertilization practices.

Note: All fertilizer quantities are measured in kg/mu.

Significant Differences in Input and Results

Outstanding Benefits of the Nitrophoska® Program:

  • Stronger Root System
Promotes robust root development, laying the foundation for high yields.

  • Thicker, Sturdier Stems
Enhanced stem strength improves lodging resistance and overall plant health.

  • Larger Garlic Bulbs
In a random sample of 40 garlic bulbs:
    • Nitrophoska® group average diameter: 3 cm
    • Control group average diameter: 9 cm

  • Higher Yield
    1-square-meter yield test shows:
    • o Nitrophoska® group: 3 kg
    • o Control group: 5 kg
      Yield increase: 23%

Why Choose Nitrophoska® Compound Fertilizer?

Although the Nitrophoska® program costs slightly more (about ¥100 more per mu), it provides a scientific nutrient balance and promotes efficient nutrient absorption, resulting in significantly higher yields.

  • Based on 2023 market prices, the increased revenue per mu is estimated at ¥800–1,000, leading to a substantial boost in net profit.

Conclusion

Modern agriculture demands scientific planting and precise fertilization. The Nitrophoska® fertilizer program proves that:

“A small investment brings big returns.”
